Pachamama in detail
QUINTA PACHAMAMA is a "chacra" or small ecological farm with fruit trees, plants and animals.
Quinta Pachamama is a project of healthy and harmonious living, and of connection with Mother Nature. The previous owners practiced organic farming for decades. We continue to care for the trees: fig, almond, citrus, medlar, plum, peach, and olive trees—including a wise master of the place who is over 1,500 years old—as guardians of this little corner of paradise.
We have free-roaming and very happy chickens, 3 ducks, 1 rabbit, and a cat, and all the other free-roaming wildlife that comes here spontaneously. We have created several vegetable gardens: medicinal herbs, aromatic plants, vegetables, roots like ginger, etc.
Crops and produce are used for personal consumption, volunteers, barter, and for sale in our small local market.
We process some products into jams, chutneys, dried fruits, medicinal preparations, and herbal teas; and we manufacture organic cosmetics. Check out the brochure for some of our natural products.
We combine principles of permaculture, holohomeopathy, herbalism, bioconstruction, biodynamics, and direct-knowledge (intuitive reconnection with ancestral knowledge or with the right actions), always in close connection with the elements and spirits of the place.
Everything returns to the earth and resumes, in a permanent dance of decomposition that nourishes life, the natural cycle of each living element. We cultivate according to the lunar calendar and the principles gathered over the past decades under the name of permaculture. Compost, mulch, chicken manure, various manures, including the strumm from a neighboring equestrian center. All our water is recycled. We use as many biodegradable products as possible (we make the ones we can, like toothpaste, deodorant), so that the cycle can be completed.
Our Little Farm is located, by bike: 10 minutes from the salt flats and a beautiful little beach, 3 minutes from a supermarket, 3 minutes from a quiet residential area with cafes, shops, restaurants, a laundromat, etc., 10 minutes from the center of Tavira, and 40 minutes by car from Faro.
